84 Years of Pontiac History

September 17 – 19, 2010

After the announcement that the Pontiac line was being discontinued, a group of Pontiac enthusiasts and members from The Pontiac Registry began discussing what could be done to mark the end of the line. A farewell theme sounded too final because the Pontiac line will always live on with or without the support of GM so it was decided that CELEBRATION was more appropriate and to CELEBRATE with a purpose – thus the PONTIAC WITH A PURPOSE theme.

ALL profits from this CELEBRATION will be donated to the fight against childhood cancer. Money raised will be given to The Tomorrow Fund, a non profit organization that helps children with cancer and provides emotional and financial support to families at the Tomorrow Fund Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island and Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a foundation started in 2000 when a little 4 year-old girl named Alex, who was a cancer patient, voiced a simple wish – she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help “her doctors” find a cure for all kids with cancer. Please check the following websites for more information about these two wonderful children’s charities: The Tomorrow Fund and Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

The goal is to make this CELEBRATION weekend a family event. Our Ocean State is a great place to visit in September. The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI is the host hotel and the site of the show. To keep costs as low as possible, the hotel has worked with the committee and is offering discounted room rates and a weekend package that is very affordable. Join us for a fun block party in a relaxing, low key environment with music provided by a great DJ at the hotel on Friday night. Concessions will be available during the evening. Everyone registered for the show is welcomed as are all area Pontiac owners. A Teddy Bear cruise to Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Tomorrow Fund Clinic is planned for Saturday morning. The car show in the afternoon will offer 22 Pontiac/Oakland classes using the popular vote format. Saturday will also showcase a special area offering arts and crafts, antiques, automoblia, a swap meet and Pontiac parts. Music, lunch and refreshments will be available. Saturday evening join us for the BBQ and awards presentation. In addition to class awards, long distance, chapter participation awards, and a People’s Choice award given in the memory John Sawruk, the noted Pontiac historian will be awarded. Sunday ends the CELEBRATION weekend with a farewell breakfast.

The committee and sponsors invite all Pontiac owners and their families to this wonderful weekend event as we CELEBRATE the Pontiac and raise money in the fight against children’s cancer and look forward to your participation.

F.Y.I. - Fieros will be assigned to Class G – Pontiac All: 1980 - 89 or Class G1 – Pontiac All: 1980 – 89 Modified. But I’ve been assured by the committee that if we can get enough Fieros pre-registered that they will give us our own Fiero classes. So let’s show those other Pontiacs how much fun we have with our little two-seaters and pre-register. For more information and to receive a CELEBRATION packet please contact Gwen Randolph F.Y.I. – if you attended the Pontiac regional show weekend at this hotel a couple of years back you know how much fun that weekend was. This CELEBRATION weekend is modeled after that show. I hope you will spread the word and pre-register for this one. BTW, room rates at the hotel and car show entrance fees are even lower for this show. The committee worked very hard to make this CELEBRATION weekend affordable for everyone.
